'Marie Antoinette' The Movie

Marie Antoinette

I have to be completely honest here; i didnt really knew who 'Marie Antoinette' was. Of course i did hear of her, and her famous ' Let them have cake' quote..but further than that to me it was a pretty French lady who had an affair and liked eating cake. i know, very smart of me. Anyways, one night i was being bored and kept on switching channels, until i came acroos the movie 'Marie Antoinette' , who is played beautifully by actress Kristen Dunst. i got very fascinated by this legendary woman. Not only was the actress splendid at her acting, but the WAY the movie was made was just amazing. The clothing, the music, the 'french' styling interior backdrop, the close-ups, the views, the way her emotions were interpreted and expressed throughout the whole movie was the best in my opinion.

What really stood out was how she went from a 'young, playfull & naive' girl to a rather serious woman. Her complex dresses, accesories and childish behaviour were very bright, colorful, energetic at first. As time passed and she gave birth to her daughter, she became more calm, mellow and started wearing simple pastel/eggshell like colors. Not to mention her "addcition" to sweets becomes less as she grows up. I think that the movie did a great job of combining acapella/piano pieces, view/landscape shots and fashion throughout the whole movie.

Favo music piece in the movie :
" Dustin O'Halloran - Opus 36 "

This piano piece plays near the scene were Marie Antoinette says goodbye to all the staffmembers and royalblood family of her in the palace.

The music potrays the sadness and emptyness she feels once everyone has left the palace in Versailles. Also,i would say that it describes her being fragile, since she always had people around her and having alot of parties.

Frills, pink, puffy, umbrellas, italian masks, feathers, pouffy hair, big hair, fabric, structed dress, grapeleaves figures on the wall, flower patterns, pastel colors, chocolate, wine, little details, big details, extragavant, etc. etc.

These are the words that come in my mind when i think of the things i saw in the movie - French time!

No, im not talking about the baquette, and the man with a mustach saying "ce la vieeee' welcome to pariiiii.
I am talking about back in the days were it was normal for men and woman to shave their head bald and wear different white (or other color) wigs every day. Where white powder (no not that powder) was used each second to make the 'face lighter' and were nobody could recgonize you who you were, just by holding a stick with a mask attached to it. Oh, and lets not forget about the fact that every royal woman back in those days had a affair with some young casanova. They all "hit it from the back and the side" if u know what i mean :) . hahah.

Speaking of young Casanova back in those times, Marie Antoinette also had an affair. I mean, her husband, Louis XVI, played by Jason Schwartzman, was good to her. They had a normal relationship. But in my opinion there relationship was formal and limited. Passion and sexual feelings were lacking between her and her husband.

Marie Antoinette's affair was 'Count Fersen', played by Jamie Dornan. And Damn...OH DAMN. He lookes good with white hair, black hair, heck even if he was bald i wud still drool the whole floor over! Whats more appealing ? The jawlines? The eyes that can look thro your soul? The Masculine "scent" you already can imagine when you just look at his pictures.
Okay that was kinda freakish to say, but hey, i know your thinking it too! The movie made it 10x enjoyable with him as the "secret lover", even tho he had like 15lines in the whole movie. Oh well...*stares at the pictures for 5min.

Just adding the cherry on top, i found this picture. Its the 'Marie Antoinette' theme for a wedding. Isnt it just cute? I love how the umbrellas are hanging down the ceiling. The extragevant and 'over the top' patterns, fruits, makup, hair, colors. You gotta really love it to go all the way with this style, because if you medicore version of this, i think it would kill the whole "effect" of this luxurious French style. One thing is for sure tho, i la-la-lalove it!
